I don’t know what it is, but I love hearing what other people are obsessed with. Maybe it’s the way their eyes light up. Or it’s association with Oprah and her “favorite things.” Or maybe I just love having a list of things I, too, could be obsessed with.

Obsession is addictive, isn’t it? We love discovering new things, new products, new techniques…. It lights us up. It makes us excited. And who doesn’t need a little more excitement in their lives?

So today I’m not going to share any self-care tricks or force you to listen to another one of my feminist political ramblings.

Instead, let’s talk about the fun stuff….

My new favorite lotion…

Red Flower Body Lotion. Oh my god you guys, this stuff is so good. American Airlines used to put this in their business class pouches, but have since changed to something significantly sub par. Thankfully, I found a coupon online and ordered the Moroccan Rose and now I am officially obsessed.

My new favorite book…

The Sympathizer, Viet Thanh Nguyen. This novel recently won the Pulitzer for fiction and IMO it’s a must-read, especially if you’re biracial like me. The main character is a communist double agent—half-French, half-Vietnamese. After the fall of Saigon he comes to America to build a new life with other refugees, but while living in Los Angeles he secretly reports back to his communist superiors in Vietnam. It’s an incredible read for anyone caught between two cultures.

My new favorite sunscreen…

Rudolph Care. I bought this sunscreen in Copenhagen and I absolutely love it. When I looked it up online last week wondering where I could find more, I discovered that—of course—there’s a story about a female founder. Andrea Rudolph founded the company during her pregnancy after learning how many harmful chemicals were swimming around in her bloodstream (despite being the youngest woman in the study).

My new favorite coffee…

Along with San Francisco-based Blue Bottle and Sight Glass, I’m now regularly added Chromatic Coffee from Santa Clara into my regular rotation.

Please Stop Trying To “Empower” Women With Cutesy Titles. This Fast Company piece articulated something that’s been bothering me for a long time: Why do women get slapped with names likes “momtrepreneur” and “SHE-EO,” when men just get to be entrepreneurs and CEOs? It’s never felt fully respectful or equal, and this article so perfectly explains why.
